LAND GRANT COLLEGE ON THE FAST TRACK TO GROWTH
COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITYFORT COLLINS, CO
SUSTAINABLE CAMPUS GROWTH
CSU has placed sustainability at the forefront of campus expansion. The Behavioral Sciences Building is certified LEED Gold, and the landscape and site design support these goals. Red and buff flagstone is locally sourced, irrigation is supported by a non-potable water source and underground system, a bioswale removes silt and pollution from surface runoff water, and ample bike parking is included.
CAMPUS CONNECTIONS AND SOCIAL AREAS
As the campus develops, attention has been equally placed on connections and gathering spaces. Center Avenue Pedestrian Mall is a spine connecting several academic buildings, and is designed with permeable pavers that reflect the quality of materials used in campus architecture. Hughes Stadium was planned with a sense of arrival, and accommodates 'tailgate alley' for students, alumnus and VIPS.
