NEW VIBRANT NEIGHBORHOOD ADJACENT TO WORLD CLASS MEDICAL CENTER

MIXED USE URBAN NEIGHBORHOOD

CONFIDENTIAL

REGIONS NEXT GREAT URBAN NEIGHBORHOOD

As part of a competitive development and design team, studioINSITE led the site planning, urban design and landscape architecture services for a proposed 30-acre mixed use development. The site will become the next great urban neighborhood, providing a vibrant, 24-hour place that mirrors the community’s vision for wellness and innovation. With well thought out services, amenities, public spaces and more, the site will become a jewel in recruitment and a source of civic pride for the community. Some of the key elements include:

-Multi-modal access modes
-Pedestrian focused and bike-friendly
-Sustainable stormwater design
-Highly programmed and activated public spaces
-Activated and engaging pedestrian bridge that spans a major arterial street and connecting to a large employment center

PUBLIC REALM TO ACTIVATE A SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT

Working with the developer and architectural team, studioINSITE developed a sustainable mixed use development plan focused on creating a place, not a project. The public realm is designed for pedestrians and other active users. The block sizes are small to keep walkability at the forefront. The plan supports coworking spaces, arts and health-tech incubators, multifamily residences, grocer, paired with larger-scale offices that are designed for the needs of tomorrow’s businesses. Streets, outdoor plazas and interior gathering spaces promote socializing and interaction between users. Active lifestyles are emphasized through streets designed to promote walkability and bicycling; access to urban gathering spaces, greenways and recreation spaces; planned opportunities for social interaction; and a layering of uses that creates a safe neighborhood where people can be comfortable at all hours of the day or night.
